Following last year's consultation on proposals to extend the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks, Natural England, the Government's independent adviser on the natural environment, has released revised boundary details for further public consideration.
Having undertaken an initial consultation in 2009/2010, Natural England has now considered all of the responses and made a number of changes. They are asking to hear the publics’ views on the following:
-
including the Orton Fells in the Yorkshire Dales National Park;
-
further changes to the proposed boundary variations;
-
the results of the Equality Impact Assessment and the results of the Strategic Environmental Assessment.
The consultation will run until 1 July 2011 and the BMC will be discussing these proposals at the next Lakes Area meeting (8th June). There are also a number of ‘drop-in’ events in villages in and near the areas proposed for designation where you can speak to a Natural England officer, view documents and maps and pick up a consultation packs. The events will be held at;
