The last IFSC European Youth Cup of the year was held this past weekend in Kranj, Slovenia and Team GB did very well.
Two GB junior team members made the finals, with Molly Thompson-Smith in her first competition season qualifying in 10th for the final in Female Youth B. She went on to climb to 6th position in the final giving her best result of the season and a final EYC ranking of 9th. A great first competition season.
Ed Hamer also qualified for the final in 3rd position, and looked to finish his fantastic season with style! He climbed excellently in the final and was beaten to the top spot on the podium by one hold by Urban Primozic who was climbing on home turf. This is Ed's last competition as a Junior and he finished with his highest finish in a European Youth Cup of 2nd, which will match his 2nd he achieved in the summer at the World Youth Championships. Ed finished the season with an over all ranking of 4th in both the World and European Rankings - a really fantastic season that will hopefully carry him into the senior ranks with great confidence.
There was a strong team of climbers out in Kranj with Molly and Ed, with some members experiencing their first international event outside the UK. See below for the full results. The team have had some fantastic results this season with some excellent talent coming through the ranks, next season should be even better.
