Hazel Findlay becomes second British woman to climb 9a with her recent ascent of Esclatamasters in Lleida, Spain.
After a ‘fairly slow and unsteady start’, Hazel Findlay’s climbing trip in Spain has flourished with a successful ascent of Esclatamasters, 9a, her hardest sport climb to date. Hazel becomes only the second British woman to climb 9a after BMC ambassador Emma Twyford clipped the chains of Big Bang in 2019.
Talking about the trip and climb on Instagram, Hazel and her partner Angus Kille found they were struggling to recruit fitness and manage the mind. They focused on staying positive and enjoying the process and everything then fell into place for Hazel. Hopefully the route stays dry for Angus to tick it off next!
Stay tuned next week when we’ll release Niall Grimes to interview Hazel properly.
