The annual event which selects athletes for the GB National Development Squad takes place on 9-10 November 2019. But in addition this year, it will be a technical and tactical profiling event. All athletes who take part will receive a film of their climbing over the two days and feedback on their performance through an individual feedback report identifying areas to develop.
This year the event will be held over two venues:
9 November – Boulder at The Depot, Sheffield
10 November – Lead and Speed at Awesome Walls, Sheffield
To be eligible to attend the event the athlete must be a current member of the GB National Development Squad 2019, or have achieved a top five result in a BMC National Ranking Competition or if in Youth C and D a top five placing in the Youth Climbing Series Grand Final 2019.
The technical and tactical profile report for all athletes who attend, will be complied by the GB National Development Squad coaching team based on the video analysis of the athletes' performance at the event.
Athletes who have already achieved selection through international events or the BMC National rankings will still be required to attend the event for technical and tactical profiling.
Alongside profiling, the results from the day will set the field factor value for the BMC National Rankings System for 2020, which will mean athletes who attend will get a great start to the 2020 season!
Athletes who are successful in being selected for the GB National Development Squad will then be required to attend physical profiling days before the squad events begin in 2020. The dates for these are as follows:
16 November – Junior
17 November – Youth B
23 November – Youth A
24 November – Youth C
The profiling days venue will also be confirmed in early September when registration opens.
