Recalled Fixe PLX hanger

On October 25th manufacturer Fixe announced a recall of PLX bolt hangers, after reports of unexpected corrosion of hangers placed in a marine environment.

Fixe Climbing gave the following safety warning:

At FIXE, we have detected a tendency towards oxidation in marine environments that is very high and unusual in some shipments of FIXE-1 PLX hangers.

The detected products have a batch number between 0116 and 2216. The first two figures are between 01 and 22 and the last two are always 16.

Thank you for trusting us and sorry for any inconvenience caused by this corrective action.

If you detect material from any of these products contact us at the email: recall@fixeclimbing.com

So, we might not be quite as well FIXEd as we thought eh....

Not sure, as an individual climber, what I can do with this recall info other than the usual "be aware that just because it's there doesn't mean it's safe" approach to my sport and alpine climbing.

Are FIXE anticipating that those who have equipped routes will have tracking records and/or undertake bulk inspections/replacements? I somehow doubt it.

Anyway, thanks for passing the info along.
Paul
