Devil's Gorge - fenced off!

Oh dear.... Credit John Elcock.

The BMC has just found out that new fencing has been erected at the Devil's Gorge, Flintshire – effectively preventing public access.

The photo illustrates a section of fence blocking the cave entrance and also preventing access to part of a popular bouldering wall. Reports also suggest a footpath at the top of the gorge (which may be a Public Right of Way) has also been blocked with a padlocked gate.

Given the long history of public access to this local landmark, the current situation is clearly an unwelcome development and something which the BMC are investigating.

Watch this space for updates.
