As interest in climbing's bid for Olympic status builds, the World Cup season gets underway in China. Three British women made the trip -- and they all did well.
Following her win at the Climbing Works International Festival (CWIF) at the start of March, Shauna Coxsey’s great form has continued in the Chinese city of Chongqing as she finished the final in fifth place. Mina Leslie-Wujatyk finished the semi-finals in 10th position and Diane Merrick finished 19th overall.
Shauna failed to get to the top of the first problem in the finals and this ultimately proved costly. Her only top of the final came on the second problem, enough to finish in fifth place.
The event was won by Anna Stöhr of Austria and the men's event Dmitri Sharafutdinov of Russia who both topped all four problems in the final.
