There’s now less than a week to the start of the BMC’s CLIMB 2007, an action-packed show within a show at the Ordnance Survey Outdoors Show, at Birmingham’s NEC.
The main attraction for many will be the IFSC European Bouldering Championships, featuring some of the best boulderers in the world.
In the mens event, reigning British champion Andy Earl will be just one of the home-grown boulderers taking on the likes of Russia’s Salavat Rakhmetov, the current World champion, as well as World Cup champion Jerome Meyer and reigning European champion Daniel Dulac from France. Those who think bouldering at the highest level is a specialist activity may be surprised to learn that Daniel is an international mountain guide.
The womens event may also see a battle for top slot between Russia and France. Reigning European and World Cup champion Olga Bibik, from Russia, will be challenged by France’s Sandrine Levet, five-times World Cup champion.
CLIMB 2007 is not just about watching; there’s plenty to do too. In the Climb Zone you can do some bouldering or climb the spectacular stalactite routes. There will be coaching sessions on offer. You can even have a go at breaking the world dyno record. The Summit Theatre has a great line-up of speakers, which includes Mick Fowler, Neil Gresham, Alan Hinkes, Leo Houlding and Steve McClure. And the show is packed full of exhibitors showcasing the latest kit. Come to the BMC stand for information, advice and special offers.
