Holding on for a heroine

Are you ready for the 2012 Women's Climbing Symposium?

After a successful launch last year, the Women’s Climbing Symposium (WCS) returns to reshape your climbing world at the Climbing Hangar in Liverpool on Saturday 3 November 2012.

The WCS will be hosting experts in all aspects of climbing and the most experienced female climbing coaches in the UK will once again be on hand to offer advice and help.  The event aims to connect, inspire and develop women's climbing through collective climbing experiences, the latest research and the best coaching.

Shauna Coxsey will be at the helm of the day’s Coaching Carousel which will take your climbing skills to the nth degree.  Joining Shauna will be: Leah Crane, Suzan Dudink, Diane Merrick, Audrey Seguy, Emma Twyford, Kitty Wallace and Lucinda Whittaker.

The programme for the day is shaping up brilliantly:

  • Sociologist Stephanie Meysner will present on the entire female climbing experience.
  • Shauna Coxsey will present on her year of competing on the world stage.
  • There will be a talk on successful climbing behaviours.
  • Editor of Climber magazine, David Simmonite, will give a never seen before review of women in the climbing media.
  • Lucy Creamer explores her experience of being injured and her recovery as she returns to climbing.
  • British Team nutritionist Rebecca Dent will be lending inside knowledge on how to climb for longer and achieve your optimal ‘racing weight’.
  • LJMU biomechanics department will be asking whether men’s performance should be the place to aim for or should women set their sights higher?

Tickets are now on sale, book soon to avoid disappointment, this event is sure to fill up fast!

Check out the Climbing Hangar website for full details.
