A large contingent from the Junior British Climbing Team attended a Youth Open competition in Marseilles over the weekend of 12/13 April.
Following on from a week long training trip to Orpierre the Team headed off to the competition in Marseilles and there were some excellent results. Three Team members qualified for their respective finals with Josh Farrell narrowly missing the cut in his category.
Kitty (Caitlin) Wallace climbed to an awesome 2nd place in her first international and was a mere slap away from winning.
Shauna Coxsey easily topped all the routes in her category and went into a super final with 3 others. Unfortunately the Team had to leave before the super final to catch their plane so Shauna was officially 4th but the organisers were so impressed with Shauna's climbing that they gave her an enormous trophy anyway!
Nat Berry also qualified for her final but due to the imminent plane departure she also had to leave early and was therefore credited with 8th place.
Who knows what would have happened if Shauna and Nat had been able to climb. More medals perhaps?
A massive thanks to Tony & Debbie Powell for organising the trip, Ben West for his support and also Ian & Bev Fenton for all of their help. Also thanks to Zero-G and Entre Prises for their support.
