A Mountain Guide is the highest mountaineering qualification. British Mountain Guides are trained and assessed in the skills and techniques of teaching and guiding all aspects of rock climbing and mountaineering, summer or winter, in both glaciated and non-glaciated terrain.
Guides have a passion for the mountains. In order to be accepted on the British Mountain Guides (BMG) training scheme, applicants need to be accomplished rock, alpine and winter climbers, and experienced ski tourers.
If you're looking for expert tuition in climbing, skiing and mountaineering or a guided Alpine mountaineering holiday then a British Mountain Guide should be your first port of call.
By the time they receive an international Guides carnet, they will have completed over fifty days training and assessment and been mentored through the scheme by other experienced Guides.
