Working with people with disabilities in the outdoor enviromment provides many challenges for all involved. It can also provide excitement and stimulation enabling people to access places, activities and experiences that are totally new. A joint publication from MLTE, BMC, MTT and Adventure for All seeks to make this easier by providing essential and helpful guidance and advice.
The publication is called Climbing For All: Disability Awareness in Rock Climbing and is available in the BMC's online shop in the section called Mountain Leadership and Training.
Climbing For All contains information about climbing with people with a wide range of disabilities. It also covers technical considerations, such as use of special equipment to facilitate top rope climbing, abseiling and assisted climbing.
