The new BMC women's clothing range by Tessa Lyons
"It was a real pleasure to collaborate with the BMC on these tops. Selfishly, I was also excited to be designing clothes that I would want to wear climbing myself," says Tessa Lyons, the artist behind our new clothing range.
"To start with, I asked around at the climbing wall and amongst my female climbing friends to see what they look for in a top (in terms of colour, cut and fabric) and then worked at coming up with a range that reflected their desires. I was pretty much given free-creative-rein to pick out colours and cuts as well as creating the design; it was a really exciting project to work on and an interesting context to fit my drawings into."

"Recently, I started climbing more trad, so I used this as my inspiration for the Camdala designs. I liked the idea of creating a design that didn't scream climbing but, upon closer inspection, was made almost entirely of climbing gear.
"Simplicity was key for the vest top design. I wanted to use something that was relevant to climbing but that had an almost feminine quality, which I feel that the figure of eight knot has; a kind of curving, flowing sort of shape."
