Black Diamond have issued two voluntary recalls for select items of equipment including carabiners and nylon slings. Quickdraw sets comprising affected carabiners are also included in the recall. Find out how to check if your gear is affected and what to do below.
This is a voluntary recall issued by the manufacturer, who has given the following information and advice:
Nylon slings
A retailer found a nylon sling with a taped splice, which was determined to have been missed by the inspection process. To stop this recurring, BD have eliminated tape splices from the webbing supplied to them. Any potentially affected slings have been recalled for inspection.

Carabiners and quickdraws
A routine inspection found a carabiner with an incomplete gate rivet. Production was halted and a recall of potentially affected product issued. New inspection procedures have been implemented, products which have gone through this more rigorous procedure have a green sticker attached.
Inspection procedure as follows:
- For solid gate carabiners: gates are properly riveted.
- For wiregate carabiners: gate wire ends are properly formed.
- For screwgate locking carabiners: the gates and locking sleeves are assembled correctly and function properly.
- All carabiner gates fully close when released from any position.
