I reach the top and collapse. The tiny summit is filling up with a guided party of Americans. As I glance at their gear: gore-tex suits, crampons, axes and ropes, I start to get an uneasy feeling of exposure. I look down at my running shoes, shorts and packamac - I know I don’t have everything I should to be up here.
