Candidates for the 2008 Acro Rock Legends Award have just been announced.

Once again a pool of 17 international specialised magazines - including the BMC's Summit magazine - has selected five candidates for the SALEWA ROCK AWARD and three for the LA SPORTIVA COMPETITION AWARD. These prizes will be assigned on Friday 5th September 2008 at Arco, Italy on the eve of the XXII Arco Rock Master -  the invite-only climbing competition for the world’s champions.

For the third time running an extremely impressive list of candidates has been put together. Nominees for the SALEWA ROCK AWARD include Chris Sharma and Dave Graham, Patxi Usobiaga from Spain, Barbara Zangerl from Austria and 15 year-old Adam Ondra from the Czech Republic. Those in the running for the 2008 LA SPORTIVA COMPETITION AWARD are Maja Vidmar from Slovenia, Kilian Fischhuber from Austria and Patxi Usobiaga - like last year the only athlete nominated for both categories.

The winners will be announced at a special award ceremony on the eve of the weekend Rock Master competition. Look out for a full report in the next issue of Summit.
