What’s New

Boulder Britain
is a select guidebook to the best bouldering in the UK, detailing 3,200 problems of all grades at 180 venues from the most popular to the most obscure. The second edition of A55 Sport Climbs details new routes (and new crags) along the A55 expressway corridor in North Wales between Llanddulas and Penmaenmawr. Skye Sea-Cliffs & Outcrops covers all the climbing to be found on the sea-cliffs and outcrops on the magical Isle of Skye.

The Valley Climbers chronicles the most seminal climbs of Yosemite’s modern era, climbs that revolutionized the face of world rock climbing; from Skinner and Piana's first free ascent of El Capitan, to Alex Honnold’s free solo ascent of Half Dome. 100 Favorite North American Climbs is Fred Beckey’s magnum opus. Over a span of 70 years, Fred has made more first ascents than any other North American climber. In this book, he offers up his characteristic mix of route tips, natural history and climbing lore. Asgard Jamming is a multi-award winning film, which follows a team of skilled and fun-loving Belgian climbers as they tackle the north west face of Mount Asgard on Canada’s Baffin Island.

Redpoint is the first in-depth coaching guide to redpoint and on sight climbing, and comes with a 30-minute DVD featuring many of the tactics and methods of successful redpointing and on-sighting.

New Hill Walkers is a free BMC booklet which highlights some essential skills you should learn and develop on your trips into the hills and mountains, and provides a reference base of resources for learning the required skills. Day Walks in the North York Moors features 20 circular routes between 5 and 14 miles in length, suitable for hill walkers of all abilities; a useful companion to the British Mountain Map of the area.

Shorter Walks in the Dolomites describes 50 day walks ranging from short 3-mile strolls to full-day expeditions. There is something for everyone, from high mountain walks with strenuous climbs for experienced walkers, to leisurely family strolls. The High Tatras describes walks, treks and scrambles in the mountains on the Poland-Slovakia border, as well as the neighbouring White and Western Tatras ranges. The Swiss Alps is a stunning guidebook to mountain areas throughout Switzerland - the peaks, passes, valleys and bases - to help you identify the best destinations to plan your trip. A new guide to the Haute Route provides a wealth of practical advice and detailed route descriptions of the world’s most famous ski traverse, from Chamonix to Zermatt.

Coming Soon

Schiehallion, Ben Lawers and Glen Lyon is the latest map to be added to the British Mountain Map series, and includes 27 Munros, 15 Corbetts and 4 Grahams, all on a tough, waterproof and lightweight sheet of polyethylene.

Freedom Climbers tells the story of the extraordinary Polish adventurers who emerged from under the blanket of oppression following the Second World War to become the world’s leading Himalayan climbers. A worthy winner of the 2011 Boardman Tasker Award, whose judges described it as “one of the most important mountaineering books to be written for many years”.

The Wild Within is the third book from Simon Yates, one of Britain’s most accomplished and daring mountaineers. Laced with dry humour, he relates his own experience of the rapid commercialisation of mountain wilderness, while grappling with his new-found commitments as a family man. At the same time he must endure his role in the film adaptation of Joe Simpson’s Touching The Void, having to relive the events of that trip to Peru for a Hollywood director.
