Between 22 September and 6 October, you can read about all of the projects short-listed for funding from EOCA (European Outdoor Conservation Association) and cast your vote.
The projects have been put into three categories - nature, alpine and outdoor. You can cast one vote per category and the project with the most votes in each category will receive funding from EOCA (of whch the BMC is a member).
With over 86 funding applications, only a handful have been selected for the public vote. This year there is an entry from the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust and the Restoring Roaches Footpath project, details of which can be found under the ALPINE category.
Every year over 100,000 visitors from all across the UK visit the Roaches to walk, climb or simply enjoy the view. Sadly this intense visitor pressure means the footpaths have become heavily eroded. Not only are these scars ugly, they are also damaging habitat and making access treacherous. Staffordshire Wildlife Trust has been shortlisted for a grant of €30,000 (£23,500) which will be decided by public vote.
The BMC would encourage all of our members to take part in the voting process. For more information please visit the EOCA website
