As part of our volunteers week celebrations, we asked local area volunteers to send us photos of some of their experiences hill walking, climbing and mountaineering, and of volunteering with the BMC.

Local Areas provide a link between the BMC and local activities, crucially it allows members to participate in the decision-making process of the organisation, acting as the prime forum in which members can make their views known and have them communicated to Members' Council.

There are ten local areas, each one coordinated by a host of dedicated volunteers. Today is about thanking these volunteers for supporting their local community and ensuring members voices are heard at the BMC.
