From the start of 2011 permissive access for climbers was withdrawn. The site was signed accordingly and the BMC’s RAD database amended. Further signage is now to be erected. However, the landowner has recently clarified the position on all access to this site.
The land is in private ownership and for the timebeing, there is no public access to it. The landowner has stated that this is not a permanent exclusion. He will restore concessionary access for climbers after a second planning application for a water bottling plant and an appeal against refusal of an earlier application have been determined. Both the application and appeal are due to be submitted to High Peak Borough Council in the next week or ten days.
Restoration of concessionary access is not dependent upon the outcome of the planning process. The landowner has said it will be restored ‘whatever the outcome, one way or another’. He is however insistent that until the applications are determined there must be no concessionary access. As stated there is no public access.
As always, the RAD will be kept updated with the current position and can be checked here.
