South Wales Bolt Fund - new website

Posted by Dan Middleton on 30/09/2008
New bolts don't grow on trees!

After a little help from the BMC, the South Wales locals have got the bit between their teeth. With a new website, and collection boxes in local climbing shops, lets hope the donations start rolling in.

Earlier this year the South Wales Action Group (SWAG) met to clarify the area bolting policy. Following this, a successful workshop and crag maintenance meeting took place at Mountain Ash. These events seem to have galvanised local activists into action, and the good news for local climbers is that there is now a fledgling South Wales Bolt Fund active in the area. Their new website provides all the latest news and details regarding sport climbing in the area. Shiny new bolts don't appear by magic; it takes time, money and hard won expertise for this to happen. So get involved, dip into your pockets and the end result will be more climbable routes in the area.
