Lyme disease patients and their carers, families and friends are organising a petition to present to the UK government, asking that clinics and specialists dedicated to the treatment of Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases may be established.
Changes in farming practices and global warming mean that there are more ticks in the countryside in many parts of Europe. Those participating in outdoor activities are particularly at risk.
The petition is calling for more research and monitoring of tick-borne infections, and more skilled treatment for those afflicted. The petition will be presented to 10 Downing Street on the 9th of May 2012, when a small peaceful protest at the Department of Health in Whitehall London (from noon until 4:00pm) is also planned.
