Party animals trash Cheedale crag

Posted by Rob Dyer on 14/07/2014

A considerable amount of abandoned camping gear, litter and smashed glass has been reported at Blackwell Halt in Cheedale - the result of a party being held there recently by persons unknown.

Climbers are advised to be cautious when climbing routes here as there is a considerable amount of smashed glass on the holds of some routes as well as plnety lying on the floor. Anyone planning to climb here is advised to bring a brush to sweep glass from holds and use a rope tarp to prevent ropes from being damaged by glass shards.

It's very unlikely that it was climbers that did this, but please also consider taking a bin liner or two along with you and do your bit to return this crag to a pleasant place to spend time by removing some of the rubbish on your way out.
