Last Word: Lino Lacedelli

Posted by Tina Gardner on 26/11/2009

The life story of Lino Lacedelli, the renowned Italian mountaineer who died last week, will be told tomorrow (Friday 27 November) on BBC Radio 4.

In 1954, Lacedelli, along with Achille Compagnoni, became the first to reach the summit of K2, the world's second highest mountain.

You can listen to the programme between 4 -4.30pm on BBC Radio 4's weekly obituary programme Last Word.  British mountaineer Alan Hinkes and Italian author Mirella Tenderini will be amongst those interviewed.

The programme will be repeated at 8.30pm on Sunday 29 November, and will be available on iPlayer.

You can also read an obituary in the Telegraph.
