The Mountaineering and Sport climbing Federation of Iran is organizing an international mountaineering meet in Iran during July this year. The meet will be open to all climbers and especially young climbers aged 16 to 24.
For anyone with an adventurous spirit, this is a unique opportunity to visit Iran.
The meet itself will focus on climbing Mount Damavand.
Mt Damavand is 5671m high and is the most prominent feature of Iran looming majestically near the southern coast of the Caspian Sea. It has a narrow summit crater with a permanent snow cap surrounded by many good looking peaks of the “Alborz” Mountain Range. It is also the highest peak in the Middle-East and highest volcano in Asia.
The aims of the event are as follows:
- To give climbers, epecially young climbers an opportunity to visit Iran and meet other climbers
- To climb Mt. Damavand with experenced guides from Iran
- To learn about acclimatization styles and mountain rescue
- To make a succesful ascent in an atmosphere of friendship
The event is open all climbers of any age but especially to young people aged 16 to 24 - although if under 18 they must accompanied (and BMC would suggest that this is by a parent).
The event starts on 21 July in Tehran.
Costs and itinary from Tehran are set out in this event brochure
