A weekend of torrential rain failed to dampen spirits at the first Gogarth Glorious First Festival.
The Gogarth Glorious First Festival celebrated the first weekend of completely unrestricted climbing at Gogarth - one of the UK's most famous sea cliffs. The Fricsan Inn just outside Llanberis was the base, and the whole event whipped into shape by Mr Gogarth, Adam Wainwright.
However the "hottest weekend of the year" wasn't panning out as it should in Wales. Awful weather on the saturday saw most stuck in the cafe, Parisella's cafe, or the pub, leaving it to Nic Sellars and Pete Robins to fly the flag alone on Red Wall. The mini-music festival also taking place on the Saturday night distracted most from the weather, as did the free buffet - supported by the BMC and the Climbers' Club. Mike Raine from BMC Cymru and Mark Reeves, local bolting activist took advantage of this distraction by relieving many of spare cash to support the North Wales Bolt Fund. £75 was raised - thanks to all who contributed.
Sunday saw a break in the weather, and several parties were tempted down onto Red Walls. Some made it to the top before the next band of torrential rain came through, others weren't so lucky...
