BMC Peak area access reps. Bunny McCullough and Henry Folkard recently had positive meeting with representatives from Chatsworth Estate.
This may mean an acceptance of the BMC’s proposal to prune/trim some of the trees at Gardom’s and Chatsworth Edges. These two ‘hidden jewels’ of the Peak currently reside beneath almost impenetrable canopies of trees - resulting in a number of classic and historic routes becoming heavily vegetated and luminous with lichen. The proposed work is for phased, environmentally sensitive pruning to open-up crag aspect, and promote light penetration/air circulation. Watch this space!
