A new series of Coach Education events is being launched by the BMC for free as part of its Talent Development Strategy. The first series is on the use of the BMC Physical Performance Profiling tool offered free to any coach working with young climbers up to the age of 18.
This series of free coach education days is aimed at coaches working with young people in climbing walls and local climbing clubs, who would like to help these young climbers develop and improve their climbing whether that be for a competition, recreational climbing and/or outdoor climbing.
The BMC Performance profling system has been developed over the last six years with GB Youth & Junior Teams and is now in use with the GB National Development Squad.
The delivery of the BMC Physical Perfomance profiling tool will be over three days in the north and three days in the south of the UK, and a coach would need to attend all of the days at either of the two locations.
On completion of these three days a coach will have the skills to profile a young climber’s athletic function, core and climbing specific areas.
Workshop schedule
The Northern Workshops will be held at The Climbing Works , Sheffield
Module 1 – Athletic Function 15 October 2018
Module 2 – Core Function 26 November 2018
Module 3 – Climbing Specific Areas 21 January 2018
The Southern Workshops will be held at HarroWall , London
Module 1 – Athletic Function 16 October 2018
Module 2 – Core Function 27 November 2018
Module 3 – Climbing Specific Areas 22 January 2018
Each day will cover one module of the physical profiling tool and will include instruction and practical application, and how to remedy any weaker areas that are identified. Coaches will be then encouraged to take the profiling skills back to their climbers, profile them and return for the next module. The coaches will also recieve access to a free BMC online coaching resource where they will be able log the young climbers profile and track their progress.
There are 15 places on each of the North and South series of events which will be allocated on a first come first served basis. A waiting list will be kept in the event that a place becomes available.
The closing date for bookings is 9 October 2018
The workshops will be delivered by the BMC’s talent development co-Ordinators, Tim Cunnington and Lucinda Whittaker who have developed the profiling systems over the last six years.
