On Friday (24 August) Dave MacLeod climbed a new route on Hell’s Lum crag in the Cairngorms, describing it as the most dangerous lead he has ever done.
The route, To Hell and Back weighs in at E10 6C. It is the line which Dave had hoped to climb for The Great Climb live outside broadcast earlier this month. Unfortunately bad weather precluded an attempt and forced the cancellation of the programme.
Dave is not sure how he feels about the climb, but he does think he overstepped a personal red line in terms of the cost of dealing with danger the climb presented. You can read Dave’s reflections on the climb on his blog.
The successful ascent was captured on film, which will possibly be shown by the BBC later this year.
