Reports have surfaced this week of some or all of the lower-off bolts being partially chopped at the area of Chudleigh known as the North Face.
Currently these are unconfirmed but any climbers using the crag should be aware of this and inspect any bolt for damage before using it. The North Face area is situated on private land owned by The Rock Gardens (a garden centre and nursery) and has in the past been used by a local outdoor centre who installed the lower off bolts. The routes on this section of crag were originally climbed using leader placed protection so alternative anchors to any damaged bolts should be available.
The BMC has contacted the owners of the site to confirm that access for individual climbers is still permitted and they are happy for this to carry on, providing climbers continue to sign in using a book held at the nursery before using the crag.
