Climbing restrictions on Clwyd Limestone have been partially lifted, due to the early success of nesting birds, and the support of local bird expert John Lawton Roberts.
The restrictions on climbing due to nesting birds at two sites on the Eglwyseg Valley near Llangollen, have been lifted early. All the routes and new developments at the left side of Trefor Rocks (left of "Fudd Wall") are now open for climbing again, and the restriction markers have been removed.
Also, the temporary restriction on the route "Flash" at Dinbren has also been lifted, following the succesful fledging of the Ravens here. Many thanks to all who observed these restrictions.
Also on behalf of all climbers, the BMC wants to thank local bird expert and naturalist, John Lawton Roberts for the sterling work he does in recording these sites and advising BMC of the exact boundaries of the restricted areas. Although not a climber, he spends a considerable amount of time at Eglwyseg, placing the temporary nesting marker signs and observing the birds, and informs the BMC as soon as possible of the opportunity to lift restrictions early, minimising the period of climbing restrictions.
