Climbers have a good record of appreciating the conservation interests of crags. Our film highlights the need to maintain such awareness.
Castle Inn in N Wales is just one of many crags where climbers have to be mindful of an area's conservation interest.
Due to its ease of access and variety of mid-grade sport routes, the crag is very popular. However, it is also part of a Nature Reserve and an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest).
Our film highlights the need for climbers to inform themselves of a crag's conservation interest before undertaking new developments, as a lack of understanding can inadvertently result in plant and animal habitats being compromised.
Information and advice on all cliffs in England & Wales with any known conservation and access issues can be checked by searching the BMC's Regional Access Database.
