Quick reminder the winter climbing season ends on March 15, and some of the cliffs (including High Rock's Coronation Street) are therefore out of bounds until October 1.
Extended access for parts of the gorge restored under the Cheddar Gorge Project continues to the end of June except during the Bank Holiday periods.
The extensions do not apply to Burmese Wall, Sunset Buttress and Madrugada Wall until the rock-catch fence is constructed under Sunset Buttress (expected Autumn - Winter 2007).
It has been brought to our attention that despite clear advice in the guidebook and an obvious fence barrier, on March 4 a pair of climbers crossed the ledge between Madrugada Wall and Scary Monsters Wall, flattening the fence in the process. The fence prevents Cheddar Cave's & Gorge goats from escaping their enclosure and behaviour like this could jeopordise the hard-fought access arrangements. Don’t do it.
