On 31 March, manufacturer Wild Country issued a voluntary notice for users to inspect Friends size 2,3 &4 purchased in 2016-7.
What's the problem?
Wild Country have identified a manufacturing fault in a small quantity of Friends sizes 2,3 and 4. Affected units may have been purchased either in 2016 or 2017. The fault means that activating the trigger may cause the cam lobe assembly to slide down the stem. This will not cause any immediate danger to the climber, but does make the units difficult to operate, as the cams cannot be fully retracted.
What should I do?
Wild Country have produced a list of the batch codes of Friends which may be affected. For full instructions on where to look for the batch code on a Friend, which ones are potentially affected, and what to do if you find a matching code, go to the notice on the Wild Country website and follow the instructions.
