Boardman Tasker 2011 shortlist announced

The shortlist for the Boardman Tasker Prize for mountain literature 2011 has been announced.

This year there were 24 entries for the award from the UK, Ireland, USA, Canada and South Africa.

The judges for 2011, Barry Imeson (Chair), Bernard Newman and Lindsay Griffin, have announced the following shortlist :

  • Desert Towers by Steve 'Crusher' Bartlett
  • Murder in the Hindu Kush by Tim Hannigan
  • Freedom Climbers by Bernadette McDonald
  • The Sound of Gravity by Joe Simpson
  • Shadow of the Matterhorn by Ian Smith

The winner will be announced at an award presentation as part of the Kendal Mountain Festival.

Last year, the winner of the Boardman Tasker Prize for Mountain Literature 2010 was Ron Fawcett, Rock Athlete by Ron Fawcett with Ed Douglas (BMC Vice President).
