Just launched: a shiny new RAD app that's much more functional than previous versions and works across iOS and Android devices. New features like navigation to parking, massively improved searches and weather/tidal information should make it your new best friend. Oh and did we mention it's free to download? Here's the full story...
The information on RAD (Regional Access Database) is ever evolving as land ownership changes, birds decide to nest where they hadn't previously, or one of many other variables. It's more important than ever to check RAD regularly in case new access arrangements have been made since the last time you visited a crag. By doing this and following the advice given you'll be doing your bit to help maintain access and fortunately it's never been easier to find this information than with the new RAD app.
Many of you will hopefully have seen the new website version of RAD which launched last year, but since then we’ve been busy developing a new and much-improved RAD app which is now available for iOS and Android. Beyond a modern look and much improved functionality, there are loads of new features which make it more useable than previous versions:
Over 2,800 crags featured covering all but the most esoteric of venues in England and Wales
‘Navigate to’ buttons for parking and the crag
Three different search options, by: name, area and map
Weather info for each crag
Tidal info for all coastal crags
Easily save crags as favourites
Add comments about your crag experience
Links to relevant files and downloads available when a data connection is available
As with the previous versions, this app will work offline based on cached info from the last time it had a data connection, so if you're away from mobile data signal, you can still see information from the last time you had a connection.

Install the RAD app on your Android and iOS devices:
RAD is community led and your comments help keep it up to date so don’t be afraid to add any relevant information after a crag visit which might be useful for other visitors – anything from conditions on the crag, favourite routes or reports of rockfall/other recent changes to the crag are all useful for other climbers visiting.
