Birds: the movie

Posted by Alex Messenger on 08/02/2013
Birds: the movie.

Don’t ruffle feathers by ignoring climbing restrictions – the consequences could be owl-ful.

When it comes to making our messages interesting, we’ve got two choices: an ever-spiralling sequence of bad puns or trying to make a light-hearted little clip.

So to get across the importance of climbing nesting restrictions in spring, you’ll be glad to know that we chose the second option. We sent crack funny-man Niall Grimes out into the Peak District, armed only with a stuffed owl and a bemused Slackjaw cameraman.

This is what they came back with.

We love it. But what do you think? If you like it, share it with your friends. And if we get enough love, we’ll send Niall out again for a different climbing or walking topic.

Just think of the birds.

Understanding the impact of Climate Change on Sea Bird Populations

With the nesting season coming to an end, many climbing areas have been opened early either due to birds fledging early or no birds at all. For those wishing for a few more weeks on their climbing projects this may come as welcome news but the stark reality of this is the impact of a changing climate on the ocean and our sea bird populations is having a drastic affect.

I am both a climber and a birdwatcher, I don't like the finishing shots of the crosses marked with dubious names like 'twaat' and 'twit' - this gives a mixed message, can't see how this helps?

I find the end of this video unpleasant and offensive.

As an NGB provider I would not want to use this Video in any presentation to any of my groups Mountain Leaders or SPA.
This is a vile term to use, and undermines the status of the birds and any message you have.

I have complained twice about the end of this video. Anonymous 4 and 5 you have removed my comments (none of which are offensive) claiming I have broken the House rules. Where can I find these house rules and how have I broken them please????

Great video! Can't believe people are finding offence in the end of this video!!
Perhaps its a generation thing? ?

This may not be the most traditional way to get your message across - but maybe that's how to engage those that don't understand restrictions already...? Good work BMC.
