The BMC have been in touch with Natural England and the Lake District National Park to clarify the access situation around the Via Ferrata at Honister Slate Mine, Fleetwith Pike, Lake District.
Vice President Bill Renshaw has been advised by the National Park that the presence of the Via Ferrata does not and will not affect access rights under the CRoW Act around Honsiter (including Buttermere Fell and Derwent Water) and people are able to access the area as normal. Climbers, hill walkers and mountaineers can continue to use access land in the Honister area in the same way since the CRoW Act came into force.
