Cornwall's fame extends far beyond its pasties and cream teas to amazing sea-cliff climbing in stunning scenery. Last year's awesome event was so well received that we’re returning to Bosigran for the 2016 BMC Cornish Climbing & Walking Festival from 10-12 June. Here are six reasons to sign up immediately!

Sleep a stone's throw from Bosigran
We’re back at the Climbers’ Club superb hut, The Count House at Bosigran, in the heart of the best granite sea-cliff climbing in the country. Sleep in a beautiful building of weathered granite that was formerly the account house of the flourishing tin mine, which echoes the ruins of the nearby engine house. But the best bit is, it's only a 10 minute walk to Bosigran crag, a beautiful granite cliff by the sea with some of the best climbing around.
Superb climbing at multiple locations
Headlining again are the famous trio of Bosigran, Sennen and Chair Ladder, which truly have to be experienced to understand how good they really are. But let's not forget the supporting acts of the highest quality such as Carn Barra, Land’s End or St Loys on the granite and Kenidjack or Gurnard’s Head for the true greenstone and killas experience.
There’s a great new band of crags nearby on The Lizard with superb routes right across the grades. Hopefully the basking sharks and seals will gather to watch your performance on the rock and naturally the sun will shine all weekend!
Wonderful walking
Sharing top billing is the magnificent South West Coast Path only a couple of minutes’ walk from the venue. But for walkers there is much more on offer with ancient moorland paths that link landmarks such as the Ding Dong Mine, the mysterious Men an Tol and Lanyon Quoit as well as the Iron Age village of Porthmeor.
Enthralling entertainment
The climbing and walking are superb, and there’s also a full programme of evening entertainment planned, including a quiz, which will see the winners taking home some shiny new gear, and talks from Mike Raine, Frank Cannings and Iain Peters. Toni Carver is going to talk about his development of Penwith, and Andy March will be speaking about the new Penwith North guidebook. We’ll gather on Friday night for a pasty and a pint, and to meet old and new friends, and re-live the day’s activities on Saturday evening over a barbecue and (more) beers.
Meet new people
Don’t worry if you haven’t a climbing or walking partner, or have never climbed on this coast before, this is the friendliest festival around and we’ll sort you out with someone who knows the area and is happy to climb at any standard or walk any distance (within reason!).

Amazing value
Tickets cost just £35 a head and include two nights’ accommodation either in the hut (limited to 25 on a first come first served basis) or camping with full use of the hut facilities, two breakfasts, a pasty on Friday and a gourmet BBQ on Saturday evening. There’ll be a free beer or glass of wine to go with the meal and plenty more available.
Please note: once payment has been received, you will be contacted by the festival organiser regarding accommodation and dietary requirements. Do not contact the BMC office, as we are not co-ordinating this aspect.
Day visitors can pay £15 on Saturday and a nominal £5 on Sunday to cover their breakfast and the use of hut facilities.
