75th anniversary of the Kinder Trespass

Posted by Tina Gardner on 28/02/2007

Plans are in progress for celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Kinder Trespass on the weekend of 21/22 April. The weekend will give those gathering in New Mills in Derbyshire the chance to look back at the achievements of the mass trespass in 1932 and also to consider important ongoing issues over access to our countryside.

The programme for the weekend will include:
  • a series of guided walks along the new Trespass Trail throughout the weekend
  • Satuday evening gala event at New Mills Town Hall, including speeches and entertainment including music from the New Mills brass band and live folk music
  • exhibitions in New Mills at Central Station and the Heritage Centre

Further information can be found on the Kinder Tresspass 75th Anniversary website.  Speakers for the gala event will be announced in due course.

The anniversary weekend coincides with the start of the Peak District walking festival which runs from 21 April to 7 May.

In addition, High Peak Arts is putting on a community play 'On Common Ground' during the last week of July.

Here's how we're taking action, and how you can too.
