Sport climbing’s bid for inclusion in the 2020 Olympic Games ended last month, when the shortlist was reduced to three sports – baseball/softball, squash and wrestling. Despite the bid’s failure, the sport as a whole has benefited from the widened media exposure, especially for those on Team GB, and the future is definitely bright for British and international competition climbing.
Britain on Foot, a new campaign backed by government and supported by the BMC, aims to get one million currently inactive people engaged in outdoor activities. Walking is a core activity being promoted through the campaign and has been widely heralded by the medical community as one of the best ways to stay healthy and enjoy a long life.
