This weekend 175 climbers descended on the Beacon Climbing Centre in North Wales for the Welsh Lead Climbing Championships which for the first time has been run by the BMC.
With competition categories down to Youth E and including Seniors as well as part of the BMC Lead Cup (round 2) it was a busy day at the Beacon Climbing Centre on Saturday.
Qualifiers were a frantic affair with some impressive efforts in each of the age categories, with some strong looking climbers going through to the final stages. There were some great battles in the final especially in the Male Youth B category with James Bateman coming out on top.
A lot of the competitors who were part of the GB Climbing Development Squad were also competing for slots at IFSC European Youth Cups, so this event carried extra excitement.
