Hoghton Quarry

Lancashire

A large gritstone quarry with a history of sensitive access.

Climbing was only allowed in a limited climbing season after the peregrines had fully fledged. The owner has decided not to allow any climbing at the site going forward. Negotiations continue with the hope that better access can be secured. In the meantime climbers should avoid the crag.

Hoghton access has been suspended until further notice. Unauthorised access will undoubtedly damage any prospect of a favourable resolution to the current restriction. The previous coded lock has been replaced with a keyed lock.

The combination padlock has been replaced with a key padlock. So how do we gain access now? Or has access been revoked?
