Access is only permitted from May - September.
Natural England have worked with climbers to develop a set of guidelines which allow access to this bouldering area. It is essential that the guidelines are followed, otherwise access could be banned again as it has been in the past.
Bouldering only - no gear, bolts, or top roping.
Do not remove any vegetation no matter how minimal. This is a nature conservation site and a SSSI which is home to some very rare plants.
Access is permitted from May - September only each year due to hibernating bats.
Stick to the paths (see aproach details below), no cutting corners or walking off on tangents.
Stick to the cave area and walls either side - this is the only area where climbing is permitted. Do not climb in Arthurs Cave which is a tourist attraction about 500m from this cave.
Follow the BMC's Bouldering Sense guidelines
Parking and Approach
Park at Doward Campsite car park, walk downhill passing a low green barrier and straight into the woods. Continue down past a quarry on the right until the main path turns right and take a slightly rocky path straight on. Follow this down and over some rocky steps and scrambling and the cave is on the left. Please stick to this approach and don't step off the path in order to protect rare vegetation.
Do not park at Biblin's Campsite or drive past the green barrier. (Driving beyond the barrier could stop the emergency services from reaching Biblin's Campsite).
