Eskdale Needle

Dow, Coppermines & Eskdale

The Needle has one worthwhile and photogenic climb, with the adjacent outcrop offering further mini-gems. An interesting and decent venue for a short day. Shown as The Steeple on some OS maps, this finely-positioned detached monolith stands clear of the fellside overlooking the upper Esk Valley directly opposite Heron Crag.
