Scawgill Bridge Quarry is a disused quarry, just above the road, about 3km west of the Whinlatter Centre. When the original ascents were made It seemed loose, with suspect rock and an absence of any good natural protection which made it a serious and unattractive venue. In 2021, with the introduction of bolts to the quarry, it was transformed.
The quarry faces south and most routes dry quickly after rain. However, some areas, mainly Kong Wall, are prone to seepage and are slow to dry.
There have been sightings of kestrels at Scawgill Bridge Quarry . Although not a Class 1 endangered species the number of kestrels in the countryside are diminishing and therefore are of concern.
