A small outcrop of clean rock with several middle grade climbs. Arranging anchors on the top requires ingenuity. Could be combined with a visit to the more esoteric Silton Crag, although access to the base of that crag has become extremely difficult due to the growth of dense briar and brambles on the forest cleared land (2026).
Parking and Approach
If approaching Over Silton direct from the A19, turn left through the village and park at a small roadside quarry at SE451935. Walk back a short distance to a bridleway up the hill. Approaching the top of the hill, a forestry track can be seen on the right. Take the track right briefly before turning left onto the main track. After approximately 200m, take a further branch on the left. Follow this for approximately 550m to a path downhill on the left. (NB The 2nd path on the left in this vicinity). Take the path downhill a short way before breaking off right to the top of the buttress.
