The pyg track boulders

Snowdonia

Numerous boulders of varying size either side of the track below carreg gwalch. The rock tends to be somewhat on the rough side but can vary from boulder to boulder. The venue is only a short distance from pen y pass and it lends itself to a worthwhile circuit in the f4 to f6 range. There are no stella classics here but if you fancy a change from the usual haunts its a handy venue to spend an hour or so. Only the more prominent lines have been recorded. There is scope for pottering about on more minor boulders. The problems are described firstly above the track, then below for ease of reference.Block 1The square block at the far end of the boulders up and left of the path.Block 2The block to its left with the triangular roof on its right side.Block 320 ft left again. The block with an undercut roof.Block 4Lies below the track directly down from block 1 and is the last boulder with heather on the top.Block 5Contour round to the right ( looking out ) for 50ft until a flat wall comes into view on your right.

A wide range of cliffs - mainly traditional and multi pitch inc. the popular Llanberis Pass, Idwal Slabs, Clogwyn du'r Arddu and Cwm Silyn cliffs, but also outlying outcrops such as Carreg Alltrem. Many crags are on CROW access land - but not all especially some of the outcrops which lie on private enclosed land. Most of central Snowdonia is both designated an SSSI and also is an European Special Area of Conservation on account of the upland habitat and associated geology and plants found here.
