User attention

A nest bird of prey has been reported on the route Canine Crawl - no further information is currently available, but please avoid the area around the route whole the bird is present, be aware of the potential for disturbance if climbing nearby and back off if the birds are disturbed.

Please email access@thebmc.co.uk with any further information on the nesting birds - species/description and behaviour around climbers would be particularly useful.

A gritstone quarry in a lovely position above White Coppice, and although the climbing isn't the most spectacular, there are some decent, clean, and challenging routes - a good evening venue to escape the dreaded Wilton/Anglezarke midges. Care required with loose rock on some topouts. For further details on the bouldering see http://ukbouldering.com/wiki/index.php/Lancashire

Carl Spencer reports (May 2020) that there is a bird of prey nesting near Canine Crawl, so avoid this area for now. Also while COVID restrictions are on, probably NOT best to park in White Coppice, but to park at Anglezarke and walk in from the south. Paul Evans, Area sec
