The crag itself is an SSSI - the rock itself, not the vegetation. The rock is also extremely loose and extreme care must be taken when visiting. Dries fast.[The SSSI status implies that you should think very hard before doing anything on this crag: you can be fined up to £20,000 for damaging the features that make an SSSI special; see http://www.defra.gov.uk/wildlife-countryside/ewd/ewd08.htm - UKC Ed]It has become an SSSI because the rock is very old [Sam 7/06; isn't all rock old?
